The coot was busy making waves as it powered across the lake, while a Grey Heron glided effortlessly overhead. Among the reeds, a Little Grebe appeared briefly before diving again, and a male Mallard showcased some stunning reflections in the calm light. Two female Mallards took to the air together, wings catching the afternoon sun, while a Mute Swan turned its head gracefully backwards in that familiar pose. Despite the cloudy skies, the area was alive with activity, offering some fantastic birdwatching opportunities throughout the visit. The shoreline delivered a wonderful mix of waders, including Dunlin, Grey Plover, Oystercatcher, and Ruddy Turnstone, all busy feeding along the tide line.
