On the 18th of April, I had the pleasure of spending a fantastic day at Elmley Nature Reserve, a truly special spot for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike. One of the highlights of the day was managing to capture a stunning male Northern Shoveler in flight.

This striking bird is instantly recognizable by its unique, broad bill and vibrant, bold colouring — features that make it a favorite among birdwatchers. Watching the Northern Shoveler take to the air is always a captivating sight, and photographing it mid-flight was a real treat.

Moments like these remind me why I love wildlife photography: the thrill of capturing nature’s beauty and the opportunity to share it with others. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this shot — feel free to leave a comment below!
