I spent a brilliant day exploring Warnham Local Nature Reserve on 6th July 2025, and once again, the reserve didn’t disappoint! 🌿📸The day was full of wildlife encounters, each moment more captivating than the last. Highlights included:
Blue-tailed Damselfly – Delicately resting on a reed, this tiny jewel was a perfect subject for close-up photography. Its vibrant blue tail really stood out against the greenery.
Common Wasp – I spotted a busy wasp exploring a thistle, reminding me how much activity happens even among the smaller inhabitants of the reserve.
Young Coots – These energetic birds were a delight to watch, one strutting with wings outstretched while others braved the light summer rain.
Grey Heron – Patiently fishing, this focused predator showed the quiet beauty of nature in action.
Kingfisher – A flash of brilliant colour caught my eye, as a kingfisher zipped past with a catch in its beak – always a spectacular sight.
Little Grebe – Ever-charming, these small water birds never fail to capture attention with their adorable behaviour.
Reed Warbler – Darting through the reeds with energy and precision, this lively bird added movement and life to the tranquil scenes.
There’s always something special to see at Warnham, whether it’s a rare sighting or the everyday charm of familiar wildlife. Each visit offers new photo opportunities and moments that make spending time in nature so rewarding.
Which of these encounters would you most like to see captured in a photograph?
